Dortmund reach €30m agreement to sign Sancho replacement July 23, 2021 by Jürgen Götze Jadon Sancho will soon leave Borussia Dortmund to officially become a Manchester United player and the Bundesliga side are close to securing a replacement for the England star. The 21-year-old Sancho provided Dortmund with 16 goals and 20 assists last season, which leaves a big hole for sporting director Michael Zorc and new head coach Marco Rose to fill. However, they are on the verge of completing a deal that will see Donyell Malen arrive at the club from PSV. Both Voetbal International and Eindhoven Dagblad are reporting that a deal has been struck with the Eredivisie club, with only small details over the potential bonuses in the transfer to be ironed out. This marks a significant change in the tempo of the deal, which was expected to be drawn out. Related articles Malen to Dortmund Malen, who had been on the books of Arsenal as a youngster, will sign a five-year deal with Dortmund in a transfer that is expected to be completed imminently. BVB are travelling to a training camp in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland on Friday, and it is hoped that Malen will be able to join up with his new team-mates there in the days ahead. He was one of the outstanding players in the Eredivisie last season. Primarily used as a centre forward, he scored 19 goals in 32 outings in the Netherlands top flight and added an impressive seven goals in 10 Europa League matches. Furthermore, he created 10 assists in these fixtures. Malen’s strong form saw him called up to the Netherlands side for Euro 2020, and while Frank de Boer’s men ultimately disappointed as they exited in the last 16 to the Czech Republic, he chalked up a couple of assists in four appearances, only two of which came as starts. With a profile that allows him to play across the forward line, Malen is well placed to become Dortmund’s successor to Sancho.
