Tottenham boss Nuno: Harry Kane is OUR player

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has hit back at suggestions Harry Kane could leave the summer, insisting he remains a Spurs player.

Kane is, at the moment, the closest he has come to leaving Tottenham after formally handing in a transfer request ahead of the 2020 European Championship.

In a conversation with chairman Daniel Levy, Kane expressed a desire to leave to eventually win trophies and medals.

The England international enjoyed continued excellence in the 2020/21 season, not only topping the goalscoring charts to earn another Golden Boot, but also recording the most assists in the Premier League.

In all competitions, he scored 33 goals and recorded 17 assists.

However, Kane, again had nothing to show for his efforts as Spurs failed to win a trophy and, crucially, failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The 27-year-old is one of the greatest goalscorers England has ever seen, but he is yet to win a major trophy in his career.

Kane’s desire for medals led to him asking to leave, which catalysed speculation about where he could go.

Harry is our player-

Manchester City and Manchester United are the two clubs leading the race for his signature, though so far they have been priced out of a deal as Tottenham are demanding in excess of £150 million.

Nuno on Kane’s future

Following the disappointing tenure of Jose Mourinho, Nuno was eventually selected as Tottenham’s permanent manager.

The Portuguese faces a squad rebuild of sorts this summer, including having to plan for two scenarios – one if Kane stays and one if he goes.

For now, he is looking forward to working with the star forward.

Harry is our player, that is period. No need to talk about anything else,” he insisted

“Now is the moment for Harry to recover his energy, to rest.

“When Harry comes again we will have time to speak, we have good conversation.

“But like I say, now is the moment for Harry to rest and prepare for what’s coming.

“What’s coming I’m looking forward to him joining the group and start working together.”

“I’m excited to work with all the players,” Nuno added.

Of course Harry is a top player, one of the best in the world, but it’s best to work with the best players around. Harry is one of those.”
