A three-way transfer merry-go-round is on the cards which would see Kylian Mbappe sign for Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo move to PSG.

According to multiple reports in Italy – with the Corriere dello Sport leading the way – PSG are considering selling Mbappe this summer to Real Madrid.

Mbappe’s future at the Parc des Princes is extremely uncertain as his contract expires at the end of next season.

PSG have been desperate to tie the French superstar down to a new deal, just as they did recently with his strike-partner Neymar.

But Mbappe has shown no interest in penning an extension and it is no secret that his dream transfer is a move to Real Madrid.

Corriere claims that PSG will reluctantly sanction a sale if they receive a €160 million transfer fee from Madrid, which is no guarantee given Madrid’s well-documented financial problems.

Ronaldo to PSG

Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus

PSG would then use the money to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

This is a move that would satisfy the 36-year-old, who was unhappy with the Bianconeri’s performances last season as they just about sneaked into the top four and were eliminated from the Champions League in the last 16.

Given his age, Ronaldo wants to ensure he spends the last year or two of his peak with a club that can fight for elite titles.

As for Juventus, they would be happy to sell Ronaldo for a fee in the region of about €25-30m in order to lower their wage bill.

Cristiano costs the club €60m-a-year in gross wages and is a burden on their transfer market.

Icardi to Juventus

In turn, Juventus would then sign PSG outcast Mauro Icardi, who has been told he is not part of the Parisian club’s long-term plans.

The Argentine scored only seven Ligue 1 goals last season but remains highly-rated in Serie A after his exploits at Inter.

He is also appreciated by returning Juventus coach Max Allegri.
