Lorenzo Insigne is not suited to the Premier League and should avoid moving to England, says former Napoli defender Daniele Daino. The 30-year-old has been with the Partenopei for a decade but with his contract expiring next summer, there has been speculation that he could be moved on for a transfer fee this July or August. Liverpool, Tottenham, and Barcelona are leading the race for his signature, according to reports from Italy. He had the best season of his career in terms of numbers in the 2020/21 campaign as he scored 19 goals and recorded eight assists in 33 Serie A starts. Insigne is short in stature which is likely why Daino believes he would not be suited to the alleged physicality of the top flight in England. “The ball is in the court of the club. Braida himself urged Insigne to remain with Napoli however to continue to enjoy his legendary status.
“If I was Insigne, I would remain in Naples. I want to see him for life there and fly the flag of the team. Leaving a place where they treat you like a king is risky. Insigne does not have to leave Naples.”
Any Barcelona move for Insigne is highly unlikely at this point as they already have Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati in his position.
Antoine Griezmann is there also but it is looking likely the Frenchman will return to Atletico Madrid with Saul Niguez moving to Barcelona.
The Blaugrana cannot even register any new players currently as they are in breach of La Liga salary limits.
So, they won’t be rushing out to buy Insigne.
